The Annihilation Campaign of Ghouta
A eastern district of Damascus called Ghouta has been the target of an intense air strike campaign by the Syrian regime. With almost 310 killed in only five days, it is one of the worst events in the tragic Syrian civil war. The districts population, which was 2.5 million before the war, has now dropped to 400,000, with surviving residents facing air strikes, shelling, and massive shortages in food and medical supplies.
The regime has also intentionally targeted ambulances and hospitals, crippling the districts already meager medical services.
