The best hack for fame on social media!

In this day and age, it’s so easy to become popular! All we have to do is sit behind a screen, post a few things and watch the number of followers grow. Now, i am not belittling those who work hard to achieve their follower count, but just because you’re suddenly ‘famous’ on social media, this does not make you special. It is so easy to lose sight of our goal, as soon as we start getting a few compliments and a daily increase in followers. So it is crucial, that everyday we have a reality check! We need to remember, why did we start this account? What is the purpose of it? How are we using this new found fame to benefit the people?

Is what i’m doing pleasing Allah (SWT)?

We must not lose sight of our goal, as Mufti Menk explains in the video. Fame does not give you the right to become entitled, and belittle others. We must always speak to others with utmost respect and show kindness to everyone, both on the internet and in real life. Do not forget to ask Allah (SWT) for forgiveness.

Just as Allah (SWT) has allowed someone to become famous, He can take that fame away in a heartbeat.

Allah SWT teaches us in the holy Quran:

“O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one’s] faith. And whoever does not repent – then it is those who are the wrongdoers.” Quran (49:11)

Fame does not mean you should stop working. But rather, now that you have this platform, and your voice can be heard, use it to spread good, to spread beneficial knowledge, or perhaps even create awareness on various situations. Have a goal with your account, and try to stick to it.

Fame should bring you closer to Allah (SWT). If we pray, do our azkar, engage in asking Allah (SWT) for forgiveness, and respect people, then Allah (SWT) will bless us in everything we do. Remember that this power is not in your hands, and Allah (SWT) is the only one in control. Remember that this fame will not be the one to take you to Jannah, it is the acceptance from Allah (SWT) and his mercy.

Do not lose focus.

When you do things for the sake of God, Allah (SWT) will accept it. When you do something for fame, you might get acceptance from the people, but this will always be a temporary feeling.

May Allah (SWT) make us from those who use our fame and power to benefit the people, and help us be humble.

Ameen.
